Bakit May Sobrang Samang Tao? Last week nabasa ko 'yung libro ni kuya na "World's Most Evil Men" at alam mo ba kung ano naramdaman ko? 'Yung pinakamasamang kakilala ko in real life e puwede ko pang lagyan ng halo sa ulo ('yung may kalawang nga lang). Ganon. Isa sa pinakamahirap intindihin para sa 'kin eh kung bakit may mga taong sobrang sama. Holier-than-thou? Talaga, in that sense. Para sa'kin na naaawa sa live lacto bacilli ('yung sa Yakult, exage 'no?), hindi ko maintindihan kung ba't may mga taong walang awa sa kapwa tao. Du'n kasi sa nabasa ko, maraming mga tao ang pinatay without even a gram of regard for human dignity (that includes the Holocaust). Warning ko lang, the following story is a bit morbid. Like Emperor Bokassa. Meron s'yang isang dosenang prisoners no'n na pina-treat in a more humane way. Nilagay sila sa mas maluwag na selda, pinakain ng mas masasarap na pagkain etc. Ambait hindi ba? Fruck his arse. Ginawa n'ya 'yon dahil meron s'yang grand celebration -- 'yung araw na iluluklok na s'ya sa pagka-emperor. S'yempre nag-invite s'ya ng mga kilalang tao around the globe. At alam mo ba kung ano ang handa n'ya? The fattened prisoners. They were (pardon the term) slaughtered. The prisoners didn't know that they were to be served for dinner. And the guests had no idea what they were eating. *barfs* Look up to what extent of evilness some men are capable of. Disheartening and scaary. Kahit siguro di na magbasa ng librong tulad no'n, 'yung araw-araw na news, puro may patayan. Good men, where art thou? I could only quote Paul Rusesabagina in the film "Hotel Rwanda" (about the Rwandan genocide ala "Schindler's List") when asked that almost same question about evil, "Hatred. Insanity. I don't know." Let me repeat that: Hatred. Insanity. I don't know. Kuya Na-curious lang ako sa "Pinoy Big Brother" teaser na pinapakita sa ABS-CBN, so nag-research ako. Ito pala ay franchise ng isang reality show na nagsimula sa Netherlands kung sa'n pagsasamasamahin nga ang 12 housemates sa isang bahay, na walang kahit anong contact from the outside world (no cellphones, TV, radio, writing materials, reading materials, gadgets etc.) Puro basic needs lang ang provided for 100 days. Tapos no'n mag-uubusan by votes. Lahat ng ginagawa ng mga kasali ay naka-capture sa camera. Sa ibang bansa, pinapakita pati nudities at scenes na may nag-se-sex (if ever meron). Yes, zero privacy. Pero dito, i-s-screen 'yon at hindi ipapakita sa show mismo (though merong 24/7 broadcast sa net). Hindi ko 'yon kaya. Every minute, every second pinapanood ako, no way! Napaka-private na tao ko pa naman, at conservative. Heh. Isa pa kelangan daw ng interesting personality, with that they mean anything but quiet and shy. At walang libro for 100 days?! Hahahaha! Anyway, tignan na lang natin kung mag-c-click. May mix ng personalities at age, may clash, which is for me entertaning. Onga pala, the winner will receive P1 million, a house and lot, and a brand new car. Wow. []

Pinasa Sa Akin Total Number of Films I own on DVD, VCD and VHS: 40 DVDs, VCDs less than ten (most VCDs were rented), VHS di ko mabilang, literally. Wala naman kasi akong bibilangin. Only God knows where they've gone. (Don't remind me of Betamax.) The Last Films I Bought: Coach Carter (DVD copy), di ko s'ya binili, ninakaw ko, piracy remember? In the first place, kapatid ko bumili di ako (I don't buy film CDs). So di din pala ako nagnakaw, kundi si kuya. Lahat pala ng DVDs namin e nakaw din. Five (5) Films Which I Watch A Lot/Mean A Lot To Me:    Amelie - Of course, of course, sino pa ba ang matutuwa sa isang weirdo kung hindi ang kapwa n'ya weirdo? Ahh, Amelie is a masterpiece, at mushy man, she captured my heart. Her idiosyncrasies, her ambitions, her simplicity, her naughtiness, her weirdness -- looovved them all!    Braveheart - Sabi ko nga no'n basta may mga knights at kings, gusto ko, and this is one film where those characters abound. The film left me breathless, I was 12 or 13 nu'ng napanood ko 'to, watched it 5 times since then, still itching to watch it again. Truly epic.    The Usual Suspects - Hockney, Fenster, McManus, Keaton, Kint? Isa ito sa may pinakamagandang twist in a movie (the way it was revealed well noted), galing. Pero hindi lang s'yempre twist, I liked the script, I think it was superb -- quick, smart, kick*ss!    Contact - Ito ang film na hindi ma-aappreciate ng lahat, sabi nga it is a film for the wonderer. Gusto ko 'to dahil it is a fusion of faith and science. It makes the laymen think. It makes the skeptics rethink. (The book has more red-hot discussions though.)    Edward Scissorhands - Kapag nakakita ka ng taong may kamay na gunting, hindi ka ba lalayo? Ako oo! But, I love Edward Scissorhands (or is it Johnny Depp?), the epitome of an outcast. Made me cry, para bang gusto ko s'yang bilan ng icecream at lobo. (Uhh, icecream na lang pala.) Sorry micketymoc, ngayon lang ako nakagawa ng entry (been sick and absent for 4 f*cking school days). BTW, dapat in-include ko ang Primer, I watched it a LOT of times, holy crap, di ko kasi ma-gets. (Don't laugh, try and watch it first then laugh in utter bewilderment.) Ipapasa ko ang movie baton sa limang (5) bloggers: tiamy, resty, ayu, ver and lws. Randomly selected 'yan (or so I say). Kayo naman. []

Survival Of The Fakest Para mahinto na ang misinformation na nasa mga textbooks natin tungkol sa evidences for evolution, read this: Survival Of The Fakest Most of them were faked. PDF file pala 'yan. Learned about it from PEX. Anyway, para sa 'kin kung mapatunayang we truly evolved, then it's ok, leche anong magagawa 'ko di ba? But as of now, I am an aevolutionist (self-coined), the evidences do not convince me yet (apart from those shown sa textbooks). Shaky pa din ang theory, and the mere fact na merong group of scientists (with good credentials and Ph.Ds) ang ngayon tumututol, it's still quite far from being conclusive. Walang Libro?! Hindi ko ma-imagine ang buhay na walang libro or let's say buhay na walang puwedeng basahin. Kaya hindi siguro ako mag-susurvive kung ipinanganak ako bago pa nagkaron ng means ang taong magsulat. Amboring no'n. Gano'n ko kamahal ang mga libro (o kahit anong surface na may mga letra) that I can't live without them. Mas matutuwa ako sa isang box ng libro kaysa isang box ng t-shirts at pants. O kaya papiliin mo ako between 1 million pesos at 1 million books, hah, I would choose 1 million books. C'mon, mas mahal yata ang 1 million books pag binenta! Di promise. Mahilig talaga akong magbasa lalo na't maganda 'yung content. Minsan mabilis (a day), minsan mabagal (a month), depende sa momentum at kapal ng libro. S'yempre, hindi mo ba naman matatapos sa isang araw ang 6-pages thick na libro? So there, favorite shop ko ang bookstores, naaaliw ako pag maraming books sa paligid. I could go for a day without talking, but not without reading. Onga pala, there's no such thing as over-reading. Walang gano'n, hindi naman nabubusog ang utak e. So pag may nakita kang taong basa ng basa, wag mong sasabihang sobra na ang ginagawa n'ya. Appetizer pa lang 'yon. At sa mga nagsasabing boring magbasa ng libro, the hell, leave us alone, will you? Nag-paparty kami at ayaw namin ng killjoy. Postscript: Medyo may sakit ako ngayon, so 'yan lang muna ang mai-e-entry ko. Magpapagaling pa 'ko. Wish me good health. []

Wala Akong Magagawa (At last nakapag-update din ako. Sorry busy talaga, andami kong iniisip at ginagawa ngayong school work. Plus nakakapagod ang araw-araw kong pag-pasok sa school. You know what I mean.) Hindi ako well-informed sa mga nangyayari ngayon, di ko kasi nasimulan e, sayang mukhang nasa climax na. Pero may dalawang bagay na sigurado ako -- ayokong tumakbo si Susan Roces at hindi ako makiki-rally to oust GMA (as if naman naki-rally ako ever). 'Yung karamihan ng tao na nag-rarally ngayon sa kalsada, alam kaya nila pinaglalaban nila? I doubt it. Gusto nilang patalsikin si GMA, tapos pag tinanong mo ng tapos? hear what they would say and be delighted in the profoundness of their answer. Siguro mas gugustuhin ko pang nandaya si GMA, kaysa hindi s'ya nandaya at nanalo si FPJ. Sue me. That's white fraudulence (umm parang white lie?) Kasi hindi naman parating tama ang majority. Madalas puro hypothalamus na lang ang pinapagana, hehe. Democratic country daw, a half-witted democratic country, maybe. Hindi pa nga siguro tayo handa sa demokrasya, di natin alam kung pa'no gamitin. Tapos itong si Susan Roces, nu'ng nagsalita, andaming damdamin ang nag-spark. Magaling nga s'ya mag-deliver ng speech pero andami n'yang claims na tine-take ng masa as facts. Ang masa naman kumakampi sa oposisyon pero hindi nila alam na ginagamit lang din sila ng oposisyon, who may be jabbering my precioussss behind our backs. Sa totoo lang, alam kong wala akong magagawa. Sa sitwasyon ngayon, I think, the best I can do is to do nothing. May baby thesis pa 'kong aasikasuhin. Sayangtist May kilala ka bang babaeng gustong maging scientist, dali isip. Kung wala, you don't need to look afar, here I am. Uhuh, frustrated scientist ako. Hindi naman kasi directly related sa science ang course kong IM (Info Management). More on management nga eh at worst part is, kelangan ng frequent interaction sa tao (as a drastic step, I just have to liken people to molecules, which is quite easy, or to animals which is much easier). I really feel like a nursing student right now. Pero I'm dead serious, I want to be a scientist. 'Yung magtra-trabaho ako sa research lab, tapos naka-dress ako ng white lab gown, then nakababad ang mata ko sa microscope or telescope (na para ding microscope). Hindi ko ma-imaging mag-trabaho sa office, tapos naka-dress ako (no further descriptions needed) at nakababad ang mata ko sa paperworks or computer (na para ding paperwork). I'd probably be bored to death. Right now, eh nag-aaral ulit ako ng physics, isusunod ko ang chemistry (and the list goes on). Oh I don't feel like a nursing college student, I feel more like a highschool student, trying to learn basic science. So, what now? One day kaya eh magiging scientist ako? I hope so, magtratrabaho muna siguro ako tapos ang maiipon kong perang gagamitin ko para mag-aral ulit (siguro sa ibang bansa). Pero may nagsabi nga, to be able to ask the right questions, to have an inquiring and probing mind and to be objective in your views about the world -- one becomes a scientist. Pero pa'no ko kaya malalaman kung tama ang tanong ko? Right question! []
